Paktor, a mobile dating app in Asia, aimed to increase user engagement by redesigning the like and dislike buttons. The team hypothesized that using a heart and an X would make the buttons more appealing and encourage more interactions. However, the design featuring thumbs up and thumbs down icons resulted in better user engagement.
Results
Increase in clicks of the like button by 6% and clicks of the dislike button by 4.3%
Increase in repeat app usage by 2.3%
